Hello my friends! Our life is becoming an “online life”. We spent half of our day using social media, chatting with friends or strangers, we connect to different people and we like it. It brings us closer to each other, what could possibly go wrong? Well, not all people are good and have the same purposes.Nowadays it is very easy to steal certain information (name, email, phone number) and we provide them easily enough without knowing that this information, when in wrong hands, could be fatal.
In the past few years, lots of cyber attacks occurred and lots of them are happening day by day.You can be the next victim you never know…
So,to prevent this, today I am going to give you some tips on how to protect yourself online and I think you should all start reading carefully and understand why you really have to protect yourself online. It is for your own safety.
1.Try to guard your personal information and credit card
I don’t know if this ever happened to you, but there are lots of people who sends you some email and requests your personal information claiming it is for your safety or any other lie they could use.NEVER give your information online.
2.Install Anti-Virus on your computer and Update
Update, update, update…Seems like a boring thing to do but it can save you.You should always use the latest version of your browser, or update your entire operating system.Software updates are automatic, the only thing you have to do is click a button and the process usually happens on background, it does not affect even if you are currently working on some other things.
3.Keep things private
Okay lets say that name is needed for a simple identification, but you don’t have to share on Facebook or Twitter stuff like your birthday, where do you live or where do you work.Anyone could easily find you in just a second. I know it looks nice to have so much things to fill in your profile but it is not.
4.Always be careful what you download
When you want something but can not find it or you just simply don’t want to purchase if on the official seller page you begin to search and search and search.Until you find that link…You find what you need for free and ready to download it.But wait and think. This file may be a malware or a virus. It could steal your data, you don’t even know from where you are downloading. So please this is important, keep that in mind or you can easily be hacked.Download only from trusted sources.
5. And of course, passwords
The longer the password, the harder will be for hackers to crack.Use letters(a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters),numbers, and especially symbols like @,$,^ , you can use anyone of them.
But use them to protect yourself!
There are a lot more to go,but if you use these tips I am sure your life will become better. Stay tuned.
