Hello guys. I know some of you are dying to install Kali Linux on your machine. Here is a simple guide to get started with it.
First you need to install Virtual Box or VMWare
- Download Virtual Box here
2. Download VMWare here
I will suggest VMWare because it is simple and has more options.
After installing VMWare, now you have set up the environment for your virtual machine and you need to add the operating system on it. Which will be Kali Linux. So the next step is to download the Kali Linux ISO Image. You can find it here : https://www.kali.org/downloads/
You can download he ISO file or also via Torrent , is up to you, it’s the same thing.
After you download it, now you need to add it in your VMWare virtual machine.
Open VMWare and select Create a New Virtual Machine. Then it will ask you if you have the installer disc or the installer disc image file(iso).
We select the second option because we just downloaded the iso image. We would have selected the first if we had the operating system on a disc.
Next , we select Linux and in the Version section we choose Other Linux 3.x kernel 64-bit. There is no choice to select Kali Linux, that’s why we choose Other Linux. For example, if we would install Debian, we would choose Debian in the Version section.
After we select it, we get to another window which asks us to enter the Virtual Machine name (we can name it anything you want) and the location where we want it to be stored. The location is already specified by default, but you can browse and change it.
Now we have to specify the disc capacity. The default value is 8.0 GB but I like to change it and give it more space. If you have low capacity on your hard drive, just leave it 8.0GB.
After this, the machine will give you basic information about the operating system you just installed. You can customize it or leave the default settings.
Now, open Virtual Machine and you will see below Home, that the operating system is added. Open it and congrats, you can now explore Kali Linux and do a lot of amazing things with it.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and stay tuned for more.
